Diolaze XL is an advanced laser hair removal system that uses diode laser to quickly, safely and effectively reduce hair. It has a strong sapphire tip cooling system that makes the treatments virtually painless.
Diolaze XL laser hair reduction is very well tolerated often without any numbing cream.
Cooling gel is applied to skin being treated and appropriate setting for laser adjusted based on your skin type.
Laser safety goggles must be worn at all times during the treatment.
Laser is then passed gently over the cooling gel and targets your hair follicle pigment.
Diolaze XL's sapphire cooling tip cools your skin so your don't feel the laser heat energy. You may feel sensation like rubber band snapping.
Sessions take only 20-30 minutes and results can last for months!
There is no downtime after the procedure.
Is Diolaze XL safe for all skin types?
The best results for laser hair reduction are seen with light skin and dark hair.
Laser "sees" pigment wavelength. With light skin and dark hair, laser targets dark pigment of your hair and you get the best results with the right settings.
What about light skin and blond hair?
The settings need to be adjusted to higher settings to get the best results.
What about dark skin types with dark hair?
With darker skin types, any laser or light energy, use of heat can cause hyperpigmentation.
With darker skin types, it is recommended to reduce the heat energy and more treatments may be necessary.
How many sessions are needed?
Typical number of sessions are 6-8 sessions based on your hair texture and growth.
More sessions may be needed based on hair growth which depends on hormones and genetic factors.
Results of treatments are variable.
AVOID sun tanning, skin care products such as retinols, glycolic acid and salicylic acid for 24 hours preferably 48 hours.
IT IS RECOMMENDED TO SHAVE BEFORE YOU COME IN TO YOUR TREATMENT TO AVOID DELAYS IN YOUR TREATMENT.
Follow our pre and post Diolaze XL/laser hair removal instructions.
With many medical spas offering laser hair "removal"/ reduction, what are some true facts?
1. Laser do not "remove" hair, they only reduce hair growth
2. There are many types of lasers for laser hair removal, results are dependent on the provider experience and settings
3. You need multiple treatments to get laser hair reduction typically 6 sessions
4. You should see 80-90 percent reduction in hair growth after about 6 sessions
5. What does hair reduction look like? You don't shave as often, hair is not as coarse, and often times hair does not grow back.
6. Why does hair grow back even after 6-8 sessions and why get touch up sessions?
The reason for scheduling treatments every 4 weeks is to catch your hair growth at the time the hair follicle starts to come out and zap the follicle at that time
Hormones play the most important role for hair regrowth and as will natural hair growth cycle
The more zaps with the laser with scheduled times the better the results
The key to preventing sun damage is limiting exposure to sun, avoiding peak hours of UV A and UV B radiation
Use of sun screen with SPF 30 and higher. The higher the SPF the better protection
Use sunscreen at least every 2-3 hours and not just once.
If you are going into water, use. water repellant sun screen and apply sun screen more often
Use wide brimmed hats and clothing to protect sun exposed areas
What can I expect after an IPL treatment?
You may experience a mild sunburn like sensation first 24-48 hours after treatment and you may become sun sensitive. There is usually no downtime after the treatment.
Avoid sunlight, sun tanning, tanning and wear sunscreen/sunblock with SPF 30 or higher for the next 4-6 weeks.
We always recommend appropriate skin care regimen, SPF protection and follow up of post-IPL care instructions.
Always follow proper skin care regimen as recommended by Redefyne MD Aesthetics for long lasting results
Schedule follow up appointment at Redefyne MD Aesthetics.
For optimal results, we recommend 2-3 IPL sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart
Pre-Treatment Instructions
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL): Lumecca
1. Avoid sun tanning, use of tanning beds and any application of sunless tanning products one month (4 weeks) before your first treatment and throughout the treatment course, (the change in color of your skin tone will adversely affect your desired outcome in the areas to be treated).
2. Always use an SPF 30 or greater sunblock on all exposed treatment areas and reapply every 2 hours continuously throughout the day if outside. Wear sun protective hats and clothing.
3. Discontinue the use of: exfoliating creams such as Retin-A, Differin, Glycolic acid, alpha-hydroxy acid products 1 week prior to and during the entire treatment course.
4. If you have a history of herpes outbreaks in the areas being treated, let us know. We recommend that you take Acyclovir 500mg daily three times a day for one week before the treatment and increase to 2 capsules 3x/day for 5 days if you have a flare up. We can also prescribe medications to prevent severe herpes outbreaks during your treatment.
5. Avoid blood thinners like aspirin, warfarin, 7-10 days prior IF medically permitted.
Before treatment:
1. Do not come for your treatment with a tan or sunburn or the treatment may have to be rescheduled.
2. Before your appointment: Avoid any creams, perfumes, deodorants, etc. in the areas to be treated.
3. Remove any make up, and come with clean skin.
4. Shave hair over the area to be treated.
Post Treatment Instructions
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL): Lumecca
3. Apply ice/gel packs, frozen peas or corn to the treated area for 10-15 minutes every hour for the next four hours as needed. For mild reactions, a topical herbal anti-inflammatory Florosone can be used. For more intense reactions, an oral,
non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen may be taken to reduce discomfort, use according to the manufacturer's instructions.
4. In rare cases, prolonged redness or blistering may occur. An antibiotic ointment (Polysporin, Bacitracin) may be applied to the affected areas twice a day until healed.
5. Bathe or shower as usual. Treated areas may be temperature-sensitive. Cool showers or baths will offer relief. Avoid scrubbing, use of exfoliants, scrub brushes and loofah sponges until the treatment area has returned to its pre-treatment condition.
6. For dry and itchy skin, apply a moisturizer twice a day until resolved.
7. Clients with facial Hirsutism who have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Disease (POD) and/or ovarian hyperadrogenism, and some clients of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean descent could experience paradoxical (extra) hair growth in adjacent untreated areas.
